A December 17th message from the U.S. Department of Education (ED) provides the 2009 PLUS/SLS variable interest rate for those loans that are subject to a calendar-year adjustment based on the “91-day Treasury Bill” method. Due to no reported activity for these loan types during the past two years, the December 17th message will be ED's last publication of this information.

The School Issues Workgroup of the National Council of Higher Education Loan Programs (NCHELP) Program Regulations Committee has produced two checklists (Entrance Counseling Requirements and Exit Counseling Requirements), which combine regulatory and statutory requirements to provide schools with comprehensive lists of counseling requirements. The documents use bold text to highlight provisions drawn from the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA), effective August 14, 2008, for easy identification. These requirements checklists are available via the e-Library's Job Aids & Reference Materials page, and may be shared with schools electronically, or printed as a single page (front and back).
